Merry Christmas

Hi everyone!

We just had our 2014 Teen Challenge Christmas party. We provided gift baskets and gift cards for the students and staff at the Greater Cleveland Teen challenge.  I wanted to take a minute to thank you all for your participation in this event.  It is greatly appreciated.  Whether you buy gifts to fill the baskets, spend time wrapping and preparing the baskets, prepare the food for the party and/or attend the party.  It is all a blessing to many.

I asked for you to share your favorite memories about the evening with the Northeast Area Girls Ministries Facebook group.  This morning I felt prompted to share mine.  Aside from the smile I get when I think of the student who was excited about receiving multiple bars of Zest soap that would probably get him through the next 12 months he would be a student at Teen Challenge, I was touched by a brief comment an intern made to me as we were cleaning up.  He took the time to share what he remembered attending the party.  His comment was that he impacted by the fact that the church family that provided his basket made him feel like a part of their family at the party.  I was struck by the realization that, although I am sure he was blessed by the gifts that were presented to him that evening, the gifts he remembers the most were the gifts of time and show of love and support he received from virtual strangers that evening. This picture was NOT of this particular gentleman, but it is a great reminder of what this staff member shared with me.  A group of strangers spending time sharing a meal, blessing others and praying with each other.

It is my prayer that during the hustle and bustle of this season that we remember that one of the greatest gifts we can give to others is that gift of TIME!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Crystal

Powette

Why Should a girl attend Powette?Every girl should have an opportunity to experience the outdoor wonders of God's creation in a way that will challenge them in all areas of their life.  Powette does this in one fun, spirit filled weekend.
The process of camping helps a girl learn the dynamics of being a team player.  She must learn to work with others through many of the activities that camping requires.  She will learn responsibility as she is given and completes the duties necessary for a successful camp out.  The girls learn to depend on other and to do their part.  She will be challenged spiritually through scripture memorization and have opportunities to grow closer to him through campfire services.
During the camp out the girls are engaged with activities and fun challenges that will encourage the girls to discover new strengths and gain confidence in the talents and abilities God has given them.
Girls and women learn to work together, live together, and pray together.  Don't let the girls you know miss out on this opportunity to learn and grow spiritually while developing lasting relationships.

Coins for Kids

Coins for Kids is the missions arm of Girls Ministries. Each year the national Girls Ministries Department, in cooperation with the Assemblies of God World Missions and Home Missions, selects a missions project that specifically affects children.  Girls Ministries partners with the Boys and Girls Missionary Challenge—BGMC. The Coins for Kids offering received not only benefits the national missions project but also contributes to BGMC when mailed to the national Girls Ministries Department.   Churches who give to Coins for Kids through the national Girls Ministries Department will get both BGMC and World Missions giving credit.

2014-2015 Girls Ministries Themes

Links to videos explaining this year's project can be found at the following link:CFK project video.

This past weekend the OGM reps put on a mock sleepover for the National Girls Ministries dept.  At our next meeting I will be sharing the tips and ideas that we used in implementing this fun activity into your ministry.

I would encourage you to pray about challenging your girls to collect a one time offering for this event.  Set a resonable goal and challenge them to meet it.  You can order the Coins for Kids offering boxs and promo cards, and distribute them to your girls. They are free. Contact Gospel Publishing House at 1-855-642-2011 and order as many as you need (Offering Box Item #73-4943, Promo Card Item #73-4933).  Pass them out a few weeks before you want to collect your offering as a reminder of what you are planning on doing.  Plan a fun night or weekend and see what God can do through your girls.

If anyone would like, I would be happy to help you plan an event.  We could even bring several churches together for a fun time of fellowship.  The possibilities are endless!  Feel free to contact me (330)-647-7032 or pcfaatz@embarqmail.com if you are wanting help with this event.

Northeast Area Girls Ministries Spring Meeting Notes

Our April meeting was held at North Bloomfield A/G.  Thank you Karen for hosting the meeting.  Here are the notes from the meeting to keep you all informed about recent events and future opportunities for the girls in our corner of Ohio.

Connect Form:  Just a reminder if you have not yet connected with the network office.  Please take the time to do so.  It is a simple new form and the cost is only $25.00.  That cost simply is to offset the cost of mailings etc to keep you up to date with the latest Network and National Girls Ministries news.  The  connet form is available at:   http://www.ohioag.org/586022.ihtml

Teen Girl Conference Wrap Up:  All the reports from our area were good.  There were close to 500 girls in attendance from across the state of Ohio.  The ladies really enjoyed the speakers and various activities.  There girls are still talking about the experience.

Pinewood Derby:  Due to the date being the same as the date for TGC, those in attendance had not attended the derby.  If any one has any reports from this event.  I would love to hear how it went.

Retreat:  Reminder that the May 15th deadline for early bird registration is May 15.  The forms that are due for this event can be found at http://www.ohioag.org/586016.ihtml

Things to know for the event:

  1. If you are attending night one, there will be a slipper contest so have your girls dig out their favorite pair for this activity.
  2. If you attending night 2, your supplies for the bonfire.  Come prepared to make hotdogs, s'mores, marshmallows etc over the campfire.  We provide the campfire, you bring the rest.
  3. If you girls in grades 3-5 plan on climbing the rock wall they need to bring close toed shoes for this activity.

Bless a church near you!

Miss Equip wants to bless an Ohio Church this year.  Do you know of a church that could use a blessing?  Maybe they need to spruce up their kitchen, or organize a storage area, or need to design an inviting place to minister to children and youth.  The possibilities are endless.

We need your help!  We need you to nominate your church or a church you know of to be blessed this year by girls all over the state of Ohio who are collecting quarters for missions this year.

Nominating a church can be done in 2 easy steps.

1)  Complete this nominating form

In order to complete the form you will need to provide the following information:
  • Your name, email address and phone number
  • Name and address of the church you are nominating
  • Reason for the Room Rescue
2)  You will need to email a picture of the space to  OGM@ohioministry.net
