Merry Christmas

Recipe for Christmas All Year Long

Take a heap of child-like wonder
That opens up our eyes
To the unexpected gifts in life—
Each day a sweet surprise.

Mix in fond appreciation
For the people whom we know;
Like festive Christmas candles,
Each one has a special glow.

Add some giggles and some laughter,
A dash of Christmas food,
(Amazing how a piece of pie
Improves our attitude!)

Stir it all with human kindness;
Wrap it up in love and peace,
Decorate with optimism, and
Our joy will never cease.

If we use this healthy recipe,
We know we will remember
To be in the Christmas spirit,
Even when it's not December.

By Joanna Fuchs

That Christmas spirit is a great reminder of the love that God showed to us through the birth of His son, Jesus.  We must keep that spirit in our hearts and share it ALL year long!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Come enjoy a fun-filled, jam-packed weekend with the teen girls in your life and discover what makes us all truly BEAUTIFUL.

You don’t want to miss out on what God has for you and your teen girls!

Teen Challenge Wish Lists

The lists are in the mail and on the way to your churches.  Currently the census at Teen Challenge is lower than it has been since I have been doing this.  Some of you may have less wish lists than you requested.  It is simply because I sent them all out.  We usually get more guys in between now and the party.  As they come in I will sent the information to you if you requested more baskets.  Thanks for your help in this area.  I am still in need of donations for the gift cards for staff if any of you would like to contribute in that way let me know as soon as possible.

This year Pastor Ken Keene will be ministering with drama.  We haave the worship team from VLAG.  We are looking for girls interested in ministering in talent as well.  If you have any girls interested let me know that as well.

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Each year the Northeast Area Girls Ministries sponsors a Christmas party for Teen Challenge of Greater Cleveland.  We provide each student with a basket of Christmas gifts as well as spending an evening with them and serving them dinner.  Many churches in the area participate in this event even if they do not currently have an active Girls Ministries programs.  Church bodies, Youth Group, Royal Rangers, and Women’s Ministries have all worked to provide baskets for the men.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  This year the party will be held at Gateway Assembly of God on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 6:30 p.m.

Here is what we do.  For staff, this year we would like to provide them with a $50.00 Wal-mart gift card.  Each student receives a laundry basket full of gifts.  I have enclosed a list of suggested items for each basket.  The list is comprised of items that everyone can use.  The basket does not need to contain all of the items on the list.  If your church is interested in sponsoring a basket(s) you will receive a second specific list for the student(s) you sponsor in early November. This list will have the name and specific sizes for your student. Each church also provides a dinner for attendees from their church, the staff, and the students for which they provided a basket.  This year Pastor Ken Keene will be ministering as part of the service.  Worship will be led by the worship team from Victory Lane A/G, and girls will have the opportunity to minister as well.

Here is a list of items that every basket needs.  Please wrap all items and place them in a laundry basket or rubber maid tote.  Please put the name of your gentleman on the basket.  You will receive a list of items specific to your gentleman in November.  Thank you for your patience willingness to participate in this event.

Why should a girl attend Powette?

Every girl should have an opportunity to experience the outdoor wonders of God's creation in a way that will challenge them in all areas of their life.  Powette does this in one fun, spirit filled weekend.

The process of camping helps a girl learn the dynamics of being a team player.  She must learn to work with others through many of the activities required in camping.  She will learn responsibility as she is given and completes the duties throughout the campout.  The girls all depend on one another to do their share.  She will be challenged spiritually through scripture memorization, and have opportinities to grow and draw closer to him through campfire servies

During the campout the girls are engaged with activities and fun and chellenge the girls to try and experience new things, discovering new strenghts and gaining confidence along the way.

Girls and women on the campout learn to work together, live together, and pray together.  Don't let the girls you know miss out on this opportunity to learn and grow spiritual and develop lasting relationships.

This year the them is UNKNOWN.  Are your girls KNOW or UNKNOWN for their relationship in Christ.  They will be challenged to step out and become KNOWN and be a light to a dark word.

All forms and information for this event are available on- line at:  http://www.ohioag.org/586016.ihtml

Mark your calendars today!

Back to School Already????

Wow Summer is flying by!  Our girls will be getting ready to return to various forms of schooling.  Some will be starting preschool or Kindergarten for the first time, while others are making the leap to college.  Some will be gracing the halls of private and public schools in the area while others will attend cyber school or home school.  Whatever the form school takes for them they will all face challenges daily.  Throughout the year remember to pray for and with your girls not only now but throughout the year.  It not only covers them in prayer, but it also provides them with an example of a praying adult.  Those little eyes are watching you too!

We had our annual planning this month.  I have attached the notes to the pages section of the blog.  You will find the pages tabs above the picture :).  I will be getting those dates approved and have a calendar out to you by the October meeting.

There are several upcoming events that you and your girls may participate in.  In the mailing I have also highligted information for Kingdom Purity Event, Synergy, Powette and our Area GM Fall Event.  I hope to see many of you taking part in these activities.

If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me any time

Love Ya!

Christmas in JUNE???

Wow! I just read this morning on Facebook that as of June 25th there was only 6 months until Christmas.

I just wanted to take a few minutes to give you a tip about the Area Girls Ministries Teen Challenge Christmas Party.  Many churches find it easier to participate in this service project if they start now.  What does that mean?  Good question.  For the project they determine how many baskets they would like to try to fill now and collect the items on the general list.  These are items that any guy needs and don't have to be specific sizes.  The following items could easily be collected throughout the year to lessen the burden during the holiday season:

Shampoo                                          Razors
Conditioner                                      Hand Cream
Shaving Cream                                Deodorant (not anti-perspirant)
Comb/Brush                                     Pens
Nail Clippers                                    Hi-Liters
Bar Soap                                           Notebook paper
Kleenex                                             Calendar
Tube Socks                                       Blanket
Dress Socks                                      Wash Cloths
Band-Aids                                         Towel
Tie                                                     Hat
Work Gloves                                     Scarf
Dress Gloves                                    Q-tips
Chap Stick                                        Wallet
Tooth Brush                                      Boxed Christmas Cards
Tooth Paste                                       Stamps

Praying you all will consider supporting Teen Challenge in this way.  If you start now that only leaves you with 5 items to collect to finish the baskets for the party.

Hope this helps!  I can't wait to bless their socks off again this year.

Why Retreat or Family Fun Day?

Hey there!  It was great to see many of you last week.  We had some of you that were returners and some of you that were first timers to the June events.  I would LOVE to hear from all of you.  Share your stories. ...
What did God do for you and your girls this June?
What were your favorite parts?
I know I would love to hear...and I am sure the rest of the OGM team would too!

I guess I'll start...My favorite part was watching at least one of my ladies open herself up and allow God to speak to her heart.  She is beginning that stretching a growing process and it is was still written all over her smiling face Sunday morning in church :)...and to me that is priceless!

Blessings
